The Inca Trail is achievable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness and determination.

We'll help prepare you with the Summit Ready Online workout programme, optional UK training hikes before departure and provide plenty of advice on training, kit and preparation throughout the months leading up to the expedition.

If you regularly hike and enjoy being outdoors, you'll absolutely love this trip.

🗓 Itinerary

Day 1 – Welcome to the Amazon

Meet the group in Puerto Maldonado before transferring deep into the Amazon Rainforest.

After arriving in Puerto Maldonado we'll head deep into the Amazon before taking a boat to our jungle lodge.

That evening we'll visit Monkey Island, search for wildlife by boat and head out after dark on an unforgettable night caiman search, looking for crocodilian species hidden along the riverbanks.

Day 2 – Amazon Wildlife

Today we'll explore Lake Sandoval, one of the Amazon's most beautiful oxbow lakes, home to giant river otters, monkeys and incredible birdlife.

Later we'll experience a guided night walk through the rainforest, discovering the incredible insects, amphibians and nocturnal wildlife that emerge after sunset.

Day 3 – Journey to Cusco

Fly to Cusco before settling into our accommodation and exploring one of South America's most fascinating cities.

Day 4 – Acclimatisation Day

Relax, explore Cusco, prepare your equipment and attend our pre-expedition briefing before beginning the Inca Trail.

Days 5–8 – The Classic Inca Trail

Four unforgettable days trekking through the Andes.

We'll cross ancient mountain passes, camp beneath incredible night skies, walk original Inca pathways and finally arrive through the famous Sun Gate as Machu Picchu appears beneath us.

A moment you'll never forget.

Days 8–10 – Cusco & The Andean Explorer

After celebrating our trek we'll travel across Peru aboard the spectacular Andean Explorer train before arriving at Lake Titicaca.

Day 11 – Lake Titicaca

Explore the highest navigable lake in the world by boat.

Visit traditional communities, experience local culture and enjoy one final adventure together.

Day 12 – Departure

Transfer to Juliaca Airport before saying goodbye after an unforgettable expedition.

Flights

International flights are not included in the expedition price.

To make travelling as simple as possible, USVE and KILROY will organise recommended group flights once the group has been confirmed.

A dedicated WhatsApp group will be created where we'll share the recommended flights, answer any questions and keep everyone updated.

We strongly recommend booking these flights through KILROY Travel, giving you:

Deposit: £700

Your deposit secures your place and your Inca Trail permit.

As permits are purchased specifically in your name and cannot be transferred or refunded, the £700 deposit is non-refundable.

Flexible payment plans are available for the remaining balance.

Final balance must be paid by 10th January 2027.
