Participant Medical & Fitness Declaration

1. Introduction

At USVE, the safety and wellbeing of every participant is our highest priority.

Many of our adventures take place in remote environments where access to medical assistance may be limited and conditions can change quickly.

To help us provide a safe experience for everyone, we ask all participants to provide accurate information about their health and fitness before taking part in an activity.

2. Your Responsibility

By booking an activity with USVE, you confirm that:

The information you provide is complete and accurate.
You will inform us of any significant changes to your health before your activity.
You understand that withholding relevant medical information could place yourself or others at risk.
You accept responsibility for informing us if your circumstances change before your adventure.

3. Medical Information

Depending on the activity, we may ask you to disclose information including, but not limited to:

Heart conditions
High blood pressure
Respiratory conditions (including asthma)
Diabetes
Epilepsy or seizures
Severe allergies
Recent surgery
Pregnancy
Mental health conditions that may affect participation
Current injuries
Mobility limitations
Regular medication
Any condition requiring emergency medication
Dietary requirements where meals are provided

This information is treated confidentially and is only used to help us manage your safety during the activity.

4. Fitness Requirements

Outdoor adventures require different levels of physical fitness.

Before booking, you should carefully consider whether you are physically capable of completing the activity.

Each trip description will include guidance on the expected fitness level.

5. Required Equipment

Participants are responsible for arriving with the equipment listed on the official USVE kit list.

This may include:

Walking boots
Waterproof clothing
Warm layers
Food and water
Navigation equipment where required
Camping equipment
Sleeping equipment
Mountaineering equipment
Safety equipment appropriate to the activity

If essential equipment is missing, USVE may refuse participation where safety could be compromised.

6. Medication

Participants remain responsible for carrying and administering their own medication.

This includes, where applicable:

Inhalers
EpiPens
Insulin
Prescription medication
Any other medication required during the activity

Please ensure medication is easily accessible throughout the event.

7. Emergency Contact Information

All participants may be asked to provide an emergency contact before participating.

Your emergency contact should be someone who:

Is not attending the activity.
Can be contacted throughout the event.
Is aware that they have been nominated.

8. Medical Treatment

If you become injured or unwell during an activity, you authorise USVE staff, guides or partner operators to arrange appropriate medical assistance where reasonably necessary.

Where circumstances allow, we will always seek to contact your nominated emergency contact as soon as practicable.

Participants remain responsible for any medical costs not covered by their own insurance or applicable healthcare arrangements.

9. International Expeditions

For overseas adventures, participants are responsible for ensuring they have:

Appropriate travel insurance.
Emergency medical cover.
Medical evacuation cover where appropriate.
Any recommended vaccinations.
Sufficient medication for the duration of the trip.
Any required travel documentation.

Certain expeditions may require participants to complete additional medical questionnaires before departure.

10. Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or become pregnant before an activity, we ask that you contact us before travelling.

Depending on the nature of the activity, medical advice may be required before participation.

11. Refusal of Participation

USVE reserves the right to refuse or withdraw a participant from an activity where we reasonably believe that participation would present a significant safety risk to:
